Re•new•all Quarterly Update
New Executive Director...and On The Job
The Camp Board has selected Dave Mason as the new Executive Director. Dave is very familiar with SLWC. He spent his childhood and teen summers at the Lake. From the beginning Dave has been an energetic, creative, and focused person. God’s calling on his life has led him & Lynnette to Christian ministry. They have served in several capacities in Indiana and New Brunswick. The Mason family arrived on November 26th and two weeks later Dave has already got plans underway for events in the New Year. Pray daily for them as they settle in, get the children into new schools, and Lynnette moves her photography business to a new province.
On September 16, 2017, 160 people attended the third annual Silver Lake Gala. “What an atmosphere of celebration and worship” commented one attendee. The Lord’s presence was definitely felt as people celebrated the 60th anniversary of the purchase of the campgrounds. Dr. Steve Elliott spoke about the Founders’ faith in taking a significant step and having the vision of the ministry potential. People were challenged to believe in the Lord’s faithfulness by stepping out in faith today. Just as the current ministry is a result of their faith, let’s demonstrate to this generation our faith in God.
The music, under the coordination of Larry and Carolyn Mack, covered the six decades and included a variety of participants. There was a great appreciation of the contribution the music made to worship. So what more can be said about the décor, food and hospitality that Gail Ryan and team presented. Every year gets better. Dr. Vernon & Mrs. Marples spoke to and represented others, regarding the impact that SLWC has had on their personal and family’s journey with the Lord. The evening concluded with communion led by Pastor Bert McCutcheon. An event such as this doesn’t occur without the tireless efforts of dozens of volunteers. Many thanks!!
Checking in on Progress
The engineering firm addressing the Camp Centre renovations will have all drawing revisions and necessary responses to the Township’s questions completed shortly. It is anticipated that the building permit will be issued in the New Year.
The septic solution is well underway and the engineering firm is expected to complete the draft application prior to Christmas'
It is VERY IMPORTANT that the Silver Lake family be in prayer regarding both of these matters. While the steps we are taking are not out of the ordinary, let us pray that the Lord will grant us favour and provide guidance to the leadership. We must continue to press ahead in expectation of the “joyful day” when these permits are issued.
Your Giving Makes a Difference
As of November 30, 2017 the Renewall Campaign has raised a total of $253,647.63 in donations and pledges. Capital improvements have been made in the amount of $114,477.69. These include a new insulated roof and engineering work for the Camp Centre and the septic solution. Sufficient monies are available to start the Camp Centre renovations but your financial support is still needed. Currently the campaign has 75 donors, some give monthly, annually or with a onetime gift. Be part of this endeavour and support the next generation of the SLWC ministry.
Advisors with a Purpose (AWP)
The Silver Lake Camp Board has engaged AWP to help the Christian community in their estate and legacy planning. In addition to the legacy of seeing family and friends enter into an eternal relationship with the Lord, people can plan to have a financial legacy for the Christian ministry. To date, 9 people have accessed this free service and a grand total of $422,000 has been designated for the Lord’s work, of which $171,000 has been set aside for Silver Lake Camp. We trust that you will reflect upon the Lord’s leading regarding God’s blessings in your life. For more information about AWP's services, click here.
The Renewall Committee wishes you, your family and friends a blessed Christmas and the Lord’s presence in the New Year.
