A detailed map of the Camp (Site Map)

Looking for 5 star accommodations and high end amenities? Do not look here. But, if you are looking for 5 star respect and service you have found a place worth considering for your camping or retreat experience. Silver Lake Wesleyan Camp has been around since 1958, which means our facilities are showing the signs of loving use by thousands of people. Those people, from children to senior adults have had life changing experiences and built life long memories here. Here is what one parent from Ottawa has to say about our Camp:

Silver Lake is:
•
"A safe place for everyone to play, enjoy fellowship, and relax. Silver Lake camp is on (you guessed it) Silver Lake and has a
small but very nice beach. Many kids and adults also bring their bicycles (don’t forget the helmets);
•
A short drive to get there (the camp is just past Perth, on Silver Lake, and no more than 1.5 hours away, even if you live in the east end of Ottawa);
•
A clean, affordable and well-maintained camp. Notice I didn’t say fancy. If it’s five star luxury you’re looking for, Silver Lake is definitely not your place; however, you have your choice of accommodation ranging from your own tent under the stars to a motel room;
•
A place where you don’t need to cook if you don’t want to. For family camp and many other camps, the dining hall is open and you can purchase meals if you would like – one, two, or all meals each day; Silver Lake also has a super tuck time during camps where children and adults alike can indulge in their favourite sugar fix.
•
A place you can send your kids to a weekend or week of overnight camp and not worry. In my experience, the kid and teen
camps are all well organized and have the right mix of fun elements and biblical teaching.
"

Camps: We run residential camps from the end of June through August for children and adults. You may view our child protection policy here. As members of the Christian Camping International/Canada (CCI/Canada) we hold to high camping standards. The process of accreditation with the Ontario Camps Association (OCA) will begin shortly which will continue to assure our camping standards are high in every area.

Retreats: Individuals and groups rent our facilities for retreats during three seasons. We are planning to open the winter of 2009/2010 for individual retreats and group retreats of up to 30. For retreat pricing and booking contact jennifer@slwc.ca  She will help you design a retreat package that will meet your needs and budget.

Cottages: There are almost 40 cottage owners here at The Lake. First generation cottage owners still come for the cottage they built 50 years ago. Now, the second and third generation is beginning to enjoy returning to their roots. Cottage owners contribute to the Camp through annual lease fees, volunteering, prayer and moral support for the ministry we provide. A leaseholder agreement may be viewed here.  View sample of Cottages.

Tent and Trailers: Sites are available for short term tenting and trailers. As well, seasonal and long term sites can accommodate mid-sized trailers and 5th wheels. Sites will be soon available for larger motor homes, trailers and 5th wheels. A dumping station is always accessible as needed. View sample of Trailers

The Lake: Silver Lake is a cold water trout lake, spring fed, clear and deep. Boaters enjoy leasurely runs to the falls or ripping down the lake at break-neck speed towing skiers or screaming kids on tubes. Almost daily breezes make the Lake an excellent place to test one's sailing skills. Kids and adults enjoy the warm summer water for swimming, canoeing or playing on water toys. During the winter the lake is dotted with ice fishing shacks and is often suitable for skating and even snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

The Woods: About 20 acres of our property in wooded with a stream running through a ravine. It is a supurb place to reflect, hike, explore nature and connect with God. A number of deer, loads of squirrels, pileated woodpeckers and the occasional bear consider the woods prime territory.

The Island: We own an island in the lake. It is also in the next county. Here is a pristine, isolated and accessible place for a day outing or a short hike afer an easy canoe ride. The western end of the island is open, airy and contains large trees of various species. The eastern end is higher, covered with dense undergrowth (brambles, dead falls, fir and cedar) as well as larger trees. It is recommended that you stay on the trail due to poison ivy, which is one of the challenges of this part of Ontario outdoor life.
